Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Perum Bulog (State Procurement Agency) Regional Division South Kalimantan got a target to distribute 95 tons of cheap meat sold at Rp80,000 per kilogram in the province.
"We have a target of 95 tons of meat to distribute to the entire region of South Kalimantan," said Head of Commercial Division of Bulog South Kalimantan Rahmadi in Banjarbaru, Thursday.
He said the meat that has been packaged per one kilogram in freezing conditions from Australia was brought in gradually from Jakarta through the air. Imported meat is sold to the public through the bazaar widely held in Ramadan and before Eid.
"The goal is to help communities meet the needs of beef, because of the high price of fresh meat reached Rp135 thousand per kilogram," he said.
According to him, since the beginning of Ramadan to enter the middle of the holy month, quite a lot of requests from the public.
He explained, Bulog is ready to serve local government and other relevant agencies requesting the supply of frozen inexpensive beef.
"Government and other agencies who want to get the meat can request through official letter and will be supplied in accordance with their request," he said.
He said so far sufficient demand a lot from the city of Banjarmasin, because of the bazaar or low-cost market held in village and sub-district level.
Other area is Banjarbaru requesting meat supplied approximately 1 ton for implementing low-cost market since June 13 to 18, 2016.
But he said, it possibly find difficulties distributing the meat to distant areas, because the conditions of meat can not stand too long in the open air.
"The flesh only lasted about 4 hours, so that the remote area possibility can not be served for fear of broken flesh," he said.
