"The inmates who were transferred from two prisons in South Kalimantan," said Head of the Division of Corrections Kemenkumham Harun Sulianto in Banjarmasin on Friday.
He said the prisoners who were transferred to Semarang amounted to 25 and all were the inmates of drug cases. 14 inmates of Karang Intan Narcotics Prison and 11 others from Teluk Dalam prison Banjarmasin.
"They all departed by ship from Banjarmasin to Surabaya on Thursday (12/5) early and the next day from Surabaya to Semarang by bus," he told AntaranewsKalsel.
The departure of 25 inmates was heavily guarded by 13 personnel of the Mobile Brigade of South Kalimantan Police and five correctional officers.
Harun said this would affect the density of the two prisons in South Kalimantan, and all the inmates were moved involved in drug cases.
"This transfer is done because the two prisons have been experiencing overcapacity," he said.
He said that the average prisoners who were transferred to a prison in Semarang they were sentenced with a high verdict by court.
