Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Tabalong District Manpower Office collaborates with PT Adaro Indonesia to increase workforce competency through the Employment Forum, which was temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A forum meeting with business actors was held in Tanjung, the capital of the district, on Tuesday (February 21, 2023).
Head of the office Herwandi said that the forum meeting with business actors is expected to establish collaboration in workforce training and internship which is oriented toward an educated, trained well, ready to work and professional workforce.
He admitted Tabalong is one of the regions that attracted investors. In 2022, there are 414 companies from various sectors doing business in the 'Bumi Saraba Kawa' (nickname of Tabalong) by employing 14 thousand workers.
The quite large number of companies of course has the potential for job vacancies dan they certainly need workers who have competence they need.
PT Adaro Indonesia's HR Division Head Syahka Abiaji said the Employment Forum meeting was a follow-up of of a gathering with the Head of the Tabalong Manpower Agency some time ago.
"Together we are discussing efforts to increase competency of workforce in Tabalong, one of which by reviving the Employment Forum," he expounded.
Syahka said that there were discussion between business actors and the district government as well as BLK (Vocatioal Training Center), SKPD (government working units), sub-district heads and parties who know the condition of human resources in Tabalong.
The Regent H Anang Syakhfiani appreciated the meeting and suggested it to be held regularly every three months.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God) Tabalong quickly recover from the downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and hopefully through this Employment Forum it can overcome the problems of unemployment in the region," Anang said.
Anang acknowleged that investment in Tabalong is quite good and it ranked first in domestic investment.
Meanwhile, the Manpower Agency's data in 2022 showed that the number of registered job seekers is 3,710, while there are only 1,102 vacancies with the number of registered work agreement for the specified time in 2022 as many as 4,203 people dominated by companies in mining sectors with as many as 3.395 workers.
The data shows that the potential for job vacancies in companies in Tabalong is quite large, but not all job seekers in the district can participate. However the main requirements to compete in the current job market is to have competence according to the companies' need.
