Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - General Manager of PT PLN Region South and Central Kalimantan Purnomo said blackouts in the two provinces until the end of November 2015.
"Power outages rotation lasts until the end of November, because we still fix the damaged power unit of Asam-Asam steam-fueled power plant (PLTU)," he said in Banjarbaru Tuesday.
He said the damage of the power plant unit makes the Barito Electricity system shortfall by 65 Mega Watt (MW). Electrical power systems of Barito from four power unis of the PLTU plus diesel (PLTD) and hydropower (PLTA) as well as the excess power produces 527 MW.
"However, the overall electric power plants are not generate maximum and only generate 410 MW electric power," said PLN's new GM.
The 410 MW of electrical power can not accomodate the peak load, which lasted from 18:00 until 23:00.
"The peak load could reach 500 MW, so the Barito Electrical System shortage of electric power up to 90 MW that cause blackouts," said Purnomo.
He said the power outage which hits two provinces of South and Central Kalimantan for quite some time because of the large electricity consumption during peak loads.
"We also hope the rainy season coming up so PLTA Ir PM Noor can operate optimally and fully capable of supplying electricity into the system," he said.
