Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Member of Commission III on Infrastructure Development of DPRD South Kalimantan HM Thamrin HI expects the railway plan to be realized in the province covering 13 districts and munacipalities.


"In principle, I personally support the development plan of railway tracks," said the new member of South Kalimantan Assembly from Golkar Party here on Friday.

He said that since the Dutch colonial period until now 70 years of Indonesian's independence there is only one highway from Banjarmasin to Banua Anam.

The existence of the railway will be an alternative to Banua Anam covering Tapin District, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), Central Hulu Sungai (HST), North Hulu Sungai (HSU), Balangan and Tabalong.

According to representative of the people constituency (electoral district) IV south Kalimantan, an additional lane for Banjarmasin - Banua Anam to smooth traffic flow and reduce the density.

While the existence of railway is planned to cross Kalimantan is expected to reduce passenger and freight problems, especially during Eid.
