Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina said that the city is one of the biggest eighth in Indonesia for a bike-friendly city nomination, as assessed by the Bike to Work Community (B2W).
B2W is a community of people living in big cities, love cycling, and bike to go to and from work. It is considered the largest cycling organization.
"Alhamdulillah, our city is considered by B2W to be worthy as a bike-friendly city for a category of a big city," he pointed out here on Monday (Dec 20, 2021).
Banjarmasin, he said, is equated with the cities of Yogjakarta, Bogor, Batam, Mataram, Solo, Denpasar, and Tangerang Selatan.
"It is a proud award for us," he said.

He also said that the award is planned to be handed over on Tuesday (Dec 21, 2021) at the Venue Ballroom of the National Library, Central Jakarta.
According to him, in Banjarmasin City itself, cycling is very familiar, and the city government through the Transportation Agency has made safe bicycle lanes on protocol roads.
This is because cycling is not only popular with adults, but also schoolchildren.
"On holidays, various bicycle communities are bustling around the city," he said.
Ibnu Sina himself admitted to having been in the hobby for quite a long time. Almost every week, the number one person in Banjarmasin City, cycling.
