Temanggung, C Java (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Tuesday inaugurated four retention basins in Central Java and said they are expected to boost agricultural productivity.
"I am here in Temanggung District to inaugurate four retention basins, part of the 66 basins we have built in 2021," Jokowi said at the inauguration of the Bansari retention basin in Temanggung District.
The three other retention basins he opened the same day were Pagergunung and Dukun basins in Magelang District and Tlogoguwo retention basin in Purworejo District.
"We hope that the existence of the retention basins would increase agricultural productivity," he remarked.

In addition to irrigation, he said, the water reservoirs could supply clean water to households and be developed into tourist destinations.
The retention basin in Bansari village, which was built at a cost of Rp9.2 billion, can store 8,588 cubic meters of water, he noted.
Pagergunung and Dukun retention basins have the capacity to retain 7,500 cubic meters and 16,395 cubic meters of water, respectively, he said. The construction of the two retention basins cost Rp4.2 billion and Rp8.4 billion, respectively, he added.
Meanwhile, the Tlogoguwo retention basin, which was built at a cost of Rp11.6 billion, has a storage capacity of 15,775 cubic meters, he said.
