Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent H Sayed Jafar hopes that the new board of the Kotabaru chapter of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranasda) to be able to develop creative economy to increase community economic growth.
"I hope that the new management will have the ability and competency to build creativy and innovation to encourage a creative industry in Kotabaru," he said at the inauguration of the board of Kotabaru Dekranasda for 2021-2024 period at the Paris Barantai building, Monday.
Dekranasda plays an active role in exploring and developing creative works and domestic products, thus it can develop a creative economy and provide a positive role in increasing economic growth for the community.
The Regent also asked Dekranasda to harmonize its work programs according to the vision and mission and the development program of Kotabaru by maximizing the potential of the local crafts, including to establish cooperation with all parties, so that the Dekranasda's role in the development of Kotabaru will truly be realized.

Chairwoman of Kotabaru Dekranasda Hj Fatma Idiana said that she hopes all members who had been inaugurated would have a high commitment to work and produce beneficial works.
The production of Kotabaru handicrafts, she said, is mostly done by the middle class, micro and small group, and as a household business whose workforce comes from family members themselves.
“They need an institution that accommodates them, namelyDekranasda which is responsible for developing the people-based business,“ she said.
“The challenges are getting tougher during the COVID-19 pandemic, purchasing power and the economy are currently very low. These all are problems and challenges that the Dekranasda must face,“ she said.
