Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Most of the people in the Sub-district of South Pamukan, Kotabaru District, start enjoying electricity up to 24 hours.
Head of South Pamukan Sub-district Khairil Fajri in Kotabaru said on Wednesday the community was very happy to have electricity up to 24 hours. Previously they only able to enjoy about 12 hours.
"Although some people still can enjoy the new solar power, but some other people who can enjoy 24-hour electricity," said Fajri.
Most of the public street lighting in South Pamukan, also using solar power.
"Hopefully, this year or next year the community of South Pamukan entirely can enjoy 24-hour electricity," he said not specifying which villages are not electrified until 24 hours.
Meanwhile, at the end of November 2014, Regent Kotabaru H Irhami Ridjani said about 175 from 202 villages or about 86.63 percent of villages in Kotabaru already have electricity.
"175 villages have electricity from the state electricity company (PLN), Solar Power Plant (SPP), Micro Hydro Power (MHP), and privately managed power/generator," said Regent.
Number of PT PLN customers as many as 35,176, with power connected at 38.16835 million VA to diesel source (PLTD).
PT PLN Kotabaru build a steam power plant (PLTU) with a capacity of 2 x 7 MW, with the physical progress of the construction of approximately 82 percent.
While the development plan for the industrial plant with a capacity of 2 x 350 MW, and the power grid interconnection plan Kalimantan-Pulau Laut, Regent went on.
"In Kotabaru also have an opportunity to build the power plant to cover the shortage of electricity, in the region," he said.
