The BKSAP also expressed strong condemnation over the spread of tensions and violence, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which led to hundreds of casualties among Palestinian civilians, including children and women, Fadli Zon, the agency’s chairman, noted in a statement here on Sunday.
The BKSAP will leave no stone unturned in all fronts to support Palestine, including in the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
The body also suggested the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to hold emergency meetings at the earliest to discuss escalating tensions following Israel's brutal actions against Palestine, he remarked.
Moreover, the body urged Arab and Muslim-majority nations to sever diplomatic or trade relations with Israel and to form a joint front against the normalization project with Zionists.
The OIC should also form a special agency for the rehabilitation and recovery of Gaza and the West Bank under constant bombing by Israel.
Zon praised and supported the emergency meetings organized by the UN Security Council (UNSC) and the OIC on Sunday (May 16) and expressed hope that the meeting would yield concrete recommendations, especially to save the lives of Palestinians and breathe new life into the negotiation process.
The failure of the UN Security Council to take firm action against Israel could erode the credibility of this intergovernmental global institution. Hence, it is deemed urgent to bolster the role of the UN and make it more democratic, independent, and authoritative.
The current niggling situation arising due to Israel's savagery has driven the United Nations to enforce UN resolutions and international laws, include UN Security Council Resolution 242 of 1967 demanding Israel to withdraw its military forces from areas occupied since the 1967 war, UNSC Resolution 298 of 1971 that stipulates all efforts taken by Israel to change the status of Jerusalem, including confiscation of land, is illegal, and UN General Assembly Resolution 181 of 1947 that designated Jerusalem as a territory under the international jurisdiction and granted separate legal and political status, according to Zon.
