Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan chapter of Indonesia Soccer Association (PSSI) has conducted a talent search for young footballers in districts and cities to be selected to join the national squad (timnas) of age 16 (U-16) and age 19 (U-19). A total of 100 players were obtained.
"There are 50 U-16 players and 50 U-19 players," said Secretary of provincial association (Asprov) of PSSI South Kalimantan Baktiansyah in Banjarmasin, Monday.
The 100 young players will be further selected by the central PSSI to become the U-16 and U-19 Indonesia national squad (Timnas Indonesia).
The selection is scheduled for tomorrow on April 6 to take place at the Demang Lehman Stadium in Banjar District.
According to him, the young players who have been selected since March to districts and cities in South Kalimantan have good talents. The hope is some will be selected in the Timnas Indonesia.
"Not a few players who come from the village, they join the local football schools, their talents are good," he said.
