Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) brough a team of doctors and psychologists to flood sites in South Kalimantan to provide health service and trauma healing for children.
"There are two places of evacuation in Sungai Gampa Village and Mahelat Lebo Village, Barito Kuala, that we come to provide assistance and health service," said ULM Rector Prof Dr H Sutarto Hadi in Banjarmasin, Thursday.
The team from the Indonesian Association of Dermatology and Venerology (Perdoski), the Indonesian Pedeatric Society (IDAI), and psychology students led by the Dean of ULM's Faculty of Medicine (FK-ULM) Dr. Iwan Aflanie.
In addition to medication, the team brought by ULM also provided multipurpose natural liquid "eco-enzym" can be used to purifies cloudy water to help flood victims who foud it difficult to get clean water and can also be used to help soil fertility.
"We also provided child toys to help children affected by flood to forget their sadness for a moment in the midst of the disaster that occurred," said Sutarto.
ULM Rector accompanied by Deputy Rector II Dr Achmad Syamsu Hidayat and Deputy Rector III Dr Muhammad Fauzi continued to get around to several sites affected by the floods.
One of which was Jejangkit Sub-district, Barito Kuala, where water level inundation from ankle to the adult knee and water discharge beginning to dicrease.
ULM also brought the assistance from the Education and Culture Ministry's Directorate-General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti).
Sutarto expressed his appreciation for the concern and assistance from Ditjen Dikti floods disaster that hit 11 districts and cities in South Kalimantan.
