Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - South Kalimantan Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) prepared five units flood detection devices or "disaster warning system" to be placed in a number of locations.
Head of South Kalimantan BPBD, Sofyan AH, here on Friday said this tool will be deployed in a number of flood-prone locations, so that public and other interested parties can perform early treatment.
The placement of this flood detector related to rainy season expected to begin in mid-November 2014. "No longer we will enter the rainy season, Aceh already flooded isn't it, so we need to get ready," he said.
As has known, a number of areas in South Kalimantan prone to flood such as Barito Kuala, Banjar, South Hulu Sun gai, Tapin, Balangan and Tabalong. That's where the detection devices to be deployed to provide water level information or the threat of flooding and the device connected to the BPBD office.
"We are working with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) for the procurement of these tools," he said.
Sofyan hopes that the availability of this flood detector can minimize losses due to frequent flooding in South Kalimantan. People are also expected to be ready at any time when flood came.
