Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The South Kalimantan Public Works Agency (PU) through Cipta Karya will upgrade Wasaka Museum in fiscal year 2014 , mainly to fix parts of the ornaments that collapsed due to strong winds blowing a few days ago.
Head of Planning and Environment of Public Works Building Agency Efrani Noor here on Saturday told reporters the plan to upgrade the museum which is located around Banua Anyar has not been budgeted. Because of the disaster and natural factors, the cultural asset condition was reported to the central government.
"Not much it costs, just fixing the Banjar ornaments that have been installed properly and is now in need of immediate repair damaged," he said.
The damaged part is the ornament on the roof dock of Wasaka Museum, which is located on the banks of Martapura River. Based on the record, this is the museum of the struggle of the people of South Kalimantan. Wasaka stands for " Waja Sampai Ka Puting" (No surrender to end of bloodshed) which is the motto of struggle.
The museum is housed in a custom building of Banjar "Bubungan Tinggi" (High ridge) that was converted from esidential house to a museum as a purpose of conservation of traditional buildings.
The museum is located in the Gang Haji Andir, Kampung Kenanga Ulu, Sungai Jingah Village, Subdistrict of North Banjarmasin. This location is easy to reach either by road or by river channels of Martapura River.
