Martapura, South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - Methane gas from the Padang Panjang landfill (TPA) in Banjar District has the potential 100 kilowatt of electricity per day.
"The potential of gas that can be used as electrical energy up to 100 kilowatts per day and it is produced from one
zone," said Head of the Banjar Housing and Settlement AgencyBoyke Triestiyanto here on Wednesday.
100 KW of electricity from the methane gas equivalent to 100 thousand watts. If harnessed into electrical energy, then it can serve 100 houses with 100 watts of power per day.
According to Boyke, who was accompanied by the Head of Health Normansyah, the landfill located in the village of
Padang Panjang, Subdistrict of Karang Intan, has four zones that resemble a garbage heap hill. But only one zone that gas methane taken and processed into electrical energy.
"Electrical energy produced only from a zone and has not been fully utilized, only part of the potential and distributed to 50 homes around the landfill," he said.
He said he would prefer priority to the interests of the citizens who live not far from a landfill environment, so that methane gas which processed from garbage into fuel can be used in everyday life.
"In addition to distribute to residents, most of the inate the landfill environment or other facility that requires electrical energy," he said.
The agency have prepared the landfill development program revamping infrastructure and support facilities such as weigh bridges that have been built including sorting hangar.
"Waste is also already using the system so that the quality of the sanitary landfill cells produced much more methane and pure because garbage is processed organic waste," he said.
Moreover, it use blower so much more of methane gas can be stored and distribute to the public either through pipelines or gas storage tubes.
