Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The long drought and extremely hot weather that occurred in South Kalimantan make the most of the region threatened by drought and forest and land fires.

South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Ariffin here on Wednesday said to anticipate drought and increase in the number of hotspots, provincial government asked the National Disaster Mitig tion Agency (BPBN) to perform artificial rainfall in this area.

The provincial government also set a Drought Disaster Preparedness for South Kalimantan region. According to Rudy, drought occurs in all districts and municipalities in South Kalimantan.  There are more than three hundred hotspots.

"We've made a statement that South Kalimantan in drought alert, we have asked BPBN for an artificial rainfall," he said adding that the letter has been brought to Jakarta on Tuesday after it was delivered orally.

Previously, demand for artificial rain also proposed by Central Kalimantan and has obtained the approval from the BNPB head as well as making Central Kalimantan as a plane home base for the implementation of the entire Kalimantan.

Rudy after inaugurating the second echelon officials in Abdi Persada Graha Building mentioned that the plane is experiencing disruption so plan to make artificial rain has not been done.

In response, Rudy continued, South Kalimantan provincial government offered as a homebase to make artificial rain execution.
