Almost half of time the governor is used to be in the field,
Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor took his office to the forest and land fire post command, one of which at the Guntung Damar, where fires often runs rampant, near the Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarbaru.

He said he forced to receive his guests at the command post (posko), because he wanted to focus in dealing with forest and land fires currently occur in the province.

"Although I meet my guest here at the command post, hopefully it will not reduce the meaning of silaturahmi and work target to deliver," he remarked, Monday (Sept 30, 2019).

Some of the guests he received at the Guntung Damar Command Post were from General Election Commission (KPU) and South Kalimantan Election supervisory Body (Bawaslu). Several heads of agencies also came to meet him to consult.

According to him, to work and stay in touch do not recognize limits of space and time. As long as we have opportunity whereever the place is not a problem.

The governor, who popularly called Uncle Birin, hoped his present at the command post will make officers at the command post to be more enthusiastic in combating the fire.

Guntung Damar known as a vital area as it close to Syamsudin Noor Airport. It is a peatland very vulnerable of burning and it need more extra safeguard. The fire will certainly disturb flights.

While some other peatland around the airport are also prone to land fire as evident by several fire accidents at the area.

"Almost half of time the governor is used to be in the field," said one of the officers at the command post adding that they remembered the locations the governor visited.

While the activities of safeguarding and extinguishing of fire ran till pre-dawn, even to the morning.
