Banjarmasin, (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Municipality Water Company (PDAM) Bandarmasih Banjarmasin plans to build a giant water reservoir  as a raw water supply.

"Planning ahead we must not only rely on river water Martapura as a provider of raw water, hence the dam should be built," said President Director of PDAM Bandarmasih Ir Muslih to reporters in Banjarmasin, Wednesday.

According to him, the construction of embung or dam would cost tens of billions of rupiahs from the company's profits and local government equity participation. It's just the location of the dam has not been determined.

Then there will be many alternative for raw water collection, in addition to the river and irrigation. The water reservoir can also be taken and expected to be of sustainable production for local water company.

According to him, taps Bandarmasih want to be a corporate life support, not only to the community but also to the environment of plants and animals. "PDAM as life support is a mission and vision of our company forward," he said.

With a new vision and mission,  the company taps wishes tobe  with the level of service and water management nationally and globally competitive.

"Now we serve water taps for almost one hundred percent of the population of the city and even serving  the neighboring districts of Banjar and Barito Kuala," he said adding that PDAM Bandarmasih future also became a foster father for some existing water companies in South Kalimantan.
