Kotabaru, (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - Some residents of Cantung Kiri Hilir, Kelumpang Hulu, Kotabaru, are still using kerosene lamps for up till now they have not get electricity from PT PLN.

Member of Commission II Kotabaru House of Representative (DPRD) Halomoan Manik said on Wednesday (10/4), in addition to using the kerosene lamp, there are some people can take advantage of diesel power afforded themselves by buying generators.

Residents who use diesel power, he said, should pay big enough to purchase diesel fuel. However, residents claimed the availability of diesel fuel in the area are often empty.  When the fuel is empty, they use kerosene lamps. Generally they use a kerosene lamp with a wick made from milk cans.

The absence of electricity installation in the area have an impact on the living conditions and the progress of the local community. "Such children can not learn well, due to lack of lighting," he said.

Residents of  Sembilang, sub-District Kelumpang Tengah, felt  the same. They  highly expects electric service from PT PLN.

Sembilang village head Abdul Rashid admitted that he had several times proposed electric service to coal companies around the village, copied to the regent, DPRDl and Kotabaru Mines and Energy Agency.
