Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Garuda High School (SMA) in Kotabaru was badly damaged by the recent fire, so it needs to be repaired immediately in order not to interfere with the teaching and learning process at the school.
The Garuda High School Management in Kotabaru said the school expects the South Kalimantan Government to immediately renovate schools affected by the surrounding fires.
Head of Garuda Kotabaru High School Yuliana Elvi Muslimah said on Tuesday that he hoped there would be assistance from the South Kalimantan Education Agency to carry out renovations.
"The library has a severe impact, because it is adjacent to the house of origin of the fire, the building is safe but the glass is broken and there is a leak on the roof," Yuliana told.
The same condition was also experienced by two classrooms on the second floor. The fire spread to the roof, so the firefighters had to break down the ceiling to spray water.
"It must be done in anticipation that the fires will not spread," he added.

Both rooms can still be used for teaching and learning activities, but the roof of one classroom is open so it is feared that the water will seep if it rains.
"We have already communicated with the provincial Education Office regarding this condition that we need renovation assistance," said Yuliana.
