The environmental organization Forum Komunitas Hijau (FKH) Banjarmasin during a visit to the Batakan Beach in Panyipatan Sub-district, Tanah Laut, last Sunday witnessed the tourist attraction was not clean.
The beach, which is actually beautiful, looks decorated with natural waste, such as pieces of wood, dried leaves, trees, plastic and other wastes.
Seeing the unclean conditions, dozens of FKH members took action to clean up. But because there is so much garbage that extends on the beach, the brief action seems meaningless.
Based on information from local residents, the garbage was carried by the tide of the sea. When low tide, the garbage was left on the beach and looked like piles.
Even though the garbage is cleaned, but when the tide returns to bring garbage, the garbage finally piles up again.
During a visit to the location, FKH members planted trees in a location that was considered arid.
In addition to Batakan beach, FKH also planted trees on Datu Island. Datu Island is a tourist attraction in the form of a delta lies across Batakan beach, with a journey of about an hour by motorboat (klotok).
