Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Head of the Banjarmasin Population and Civil Registry (Disdukcapil) Khairul Saleh revealed the challenge of his officers in recording personal data of people with mental illness, to the point of being hit.

"Many are angry when we record their fingerprints, some even get slapped. Understandably they are mentally ill, no matter," he said, recounting the experiences of his men on the ground on Monday.

According to him, the service of making electronic ID (KTP-el) is not only for normal citizens, but those who are experiencing mental illness also have rights.

"Every Indonesian citizen must have an identity card, namely KTP-el, so we serve them too," Khairul Saleh remarked.

According to him, service for residents who experience mental illness is by coming to their door. "We go to their home, we have to force a little to do it, there must be a photo and a fingerprint record. Sometimes our officers get hit with slap when carrying it out, because they have to succeed," he explained.

The reason, said Khairul Saleh, the KTP-el is very important for them to get treatment services. "To get into mental hospital can not be in the name of representative, for example his father's name. The name must be relevant, so we make it, no matter how," he explained.

So far, he said, the agency has recorded dozens of mentally ill people personal data for making KTP-el like normal citizens. "Anyway, as long as there is a request, we go," he said.

"So far, 90 percent of Banjarmasin's population has been recorded for the KTP-el, from around 600 thousand population," he explained.

According to him, the current problem is only the printing KTP-el, because the blank stock is minimal.

"So please understand if it's not finished soon. Only get temporary ID, because the blank is minimal. Priority is very important, for example to make a passport or pass CPNS (Prospective government employee), because it's mandatory," he concluded.
