Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted inflation in South Kalimantan, which is a combination of Banjarmasin City and Tanjung City, in December 2018 was 0.70 percent.
BPS South Kalimantan Head Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Wednesday said inflation in the city of Banjarmasin was 0.70 percent, while in the city of Tanjung it was 0.68 percent.
"The inflation rate in Banjarmasin in 2018 compared to 2017 was 2.63 percent, while the inflation rate in Tanjung 2018 compared to 2017 was 2.60 percent," she said.
She said inflation in Banjarmasin occurred because of an increase in the price index for food material groups 1.21 percent and food group 0.15 percent.
Then the housing, water, electricity group 0.41 percent, clothing group 0.20 percent, health 0.08 percent, education, recreation and sports group 0.09 percent.
The commodities that contributed the highest inflation in Banjarmasin included air transportation, broiler eggs, onions, bread, and rents.
But red chili, cayenne pepper, garlic, gold jewelry and flying fish. had actually experienced a decline in prices with the highest share of deflation.
Meanwhile, inflation in the city of Tanjung occurred because of an increase in the price index for food ingredients group 0.69 percent, and five groups did not experience changes, they are processed foods, beverages and tobacco, education, recreation and sports groups, transport, communication, and financial services groups.
The contribution of the inflation share from January to December 2018 was the highest in the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.70 percent and the smallest clothing by 0.19 percent.
Commodities experiencing price increases with the highest share of inflation in December included onions, broiler eggs, orange, snakehead fish and tilapia.
"Commodities have experienced price declines with the highest share of deflation including long beans, cucumbers, cassava leaves, garlic, and flying fish," she said.
