Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Deputy Mayor of Banjarmasin H Hermansyah was elected as Chairman of the local Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) for the period of 2018-2022.
Hermansyah was chosen by acclamation to replace the previous KONI chairman H. Djumadri Masrun, who had served two periods, at the KONI Banjarmasin Sports Conference at Roditha Hotel on Saturday.
The PDIP politician went smoothly to the position of KONI chairman because there were no other candidates as rivals. The screening team stated that other candidate did not fulfill verification.
Hermansyah promised to bring sports achievements in Banjarmasin to increase and to make improvements to the sports facilities in the city.
"We realize sports facilities are still lacking. We will collaborate with entrepreneurs to improve sports achievements," he said.
The former member of the Provincial DPRD for three periods also asked sports people to support his leadership, because the challenge would be even more difficult in the future.
"Let's manage this sport well and transparently, so there will be more athletes with achievements in our area," he concluded.
