Kandangan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The swimming pool name competition jury of the South Hulu Sungai (HSS) decided the Amandit Aquatic Center to be the winner of the competition which was held during November 8-19, 2018.
Head of the Cipta Karya Division of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUTR) Agency Ahmad Taufik Afriadi in Kandangan, Tuesday (4/12), said the process to determine the winner of the competition was quite tough.
"The names submitted were good, out of 83 names that entered the jury were screened to seven, then the winner was chosen. We have announced the winner through the Communication and Information Agency (Diskominfo)," he said.
Based on the judges' assessment the name chosen for the swimming pool is "Amandit Aquatic Center", with the winner Afriadi, a resident of Jalan Herman, Panggandingan Village, North Daha Subdistrict.
Afriadi said the use of the word Amandit is because the HSS is famous for its history, people know the Amandit River is an icon of the district, while its dam is named after it.
When HSS has a swimming pool or water park, but there is no name yet, he thinks it would be nice to be named Amandit to show icons and historical value.
"The use of the word Aquatic Center is because in 2021 the HSS will host South Kalimantan Sports Week (Porprov). These two words indicate the place of the race or venue, so it is intended to show the location of all branches of the water sport," he said.
