Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Tree Care Society (MPP) joined in the Green Community Forum (FKH) Banjarmasin greened the Trans Kalimantan area, right on the side road of Jalan Handil Bakti, Barito Kuala District, with 300 galam trees.

The 300 trees, said MPP Chairman Akhmad Arifin, Wednesday, is the beginning of planting activities which began on Tuesday (20/11) and will continue with a larger number in December 2018.

The reason for choosing a reforestation location on the roadside is because it still looks arid, so it needs greening trees. Whereas the galam tree was chosen as a swamp plant, usually living in swampy areas, it was suitable in the area which also has swampland.

The galam tree is also considered to have anaesthetics to make the area beautiful and cool. At the same time, he said, for the preservation of the galam tree, which begin to diminish.

According to Arifin, the planting activity had requested permission from the Hall of Road Office and the Barito Kuala Government, so that it was hoped that the trees planted could be well maintained, both by the government and the community.
