Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan will immediately build three connecting bridges in the Banjarbaru-Batulicin toll road construction project, an official said.


Head of the South Kalimantan Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Nurul Fajar Desira in Banjarmasin on Friday said, according to the regional development plan, the three bridges will be built with the 2019 local budget(APBD).

"Our target is in 2020 the road can be passed, even though it's not yet smooth," he said.

Until now, he added, the cost of constructing the 100-kilometer road utilizes government funds, not yet attracting the private sector.

"Especially for 2019, we are targeting to build two of the three bridges on the about 100 kilometers tollway," he said.

The construction of the freeway will be able to shorten the trip of Banjarmasin - Tanah Bumbu from around 5-7 hours to only 2.5 to three hours.

To build the two bridges added Fajar, the government has allocated funds of Rp50 billion.

While the Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor asked for support from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to realize the construction of the freeway.

According to him, the planned toll road development is one of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government's strategic programs to support the development of the Batulicin Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
