Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Banjarmasin's city government held a fair to boost tens to thousands of small and medium businesses it has built.


"We hope that the economic turnover will be great in the Banjarmasin Fair event because this is to foster the spirit of SMEs in the city," Head of Cooperative and Manpower Agency Priyo Eko said here on Thursday.

This is related to the steps of the city government to grow new entrepreneurs. The city government targets 2,500 new entrepreneurs to be realized through coaching in the period of 2016 to 2021.

"This is one of the ways we do sustainable coaching for new entrepreneurs. The number is already thousands, although only a small number participated in the fair," he said.

Priyo Eko revealed at least 35 small and medium businesses stands and 5 booths from the sub-district enliven the Banjarmasin Fair which takes place at the green open space of Kamboja from 12 to 16 September 2018.

"In this event, there are SME's talk shows from a number of businesses, such as Bukalapak's online store, (a big printing company) Grafika Wangi to the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi)," he said.

Priyo stated the agency continues to motivate new entrepreneurs to be truly tenacious in their profession, not just trial and error.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor H Hermansyah who opened the Banjarmasin Fair on Thursday hoped the fair would contribute to encouraging the regional economy, especially SMEs and new entrepreneurs in the fields of crafts, food, including street vendors.

"We hope that a lot of creativity will be created in this fair especially to open new job opportunities," he said
