Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in South Kalimantan are beginning to be affected by the price of wheat flour that has continued to increase in the last four months.

Fadhlan, a noodle producer in Banjarmasin, said on Wednesday that in the past four months the increase in the price of wheat flour could reach Rp15,000 per sack.

"Today, if you can survive, is quite good, because the increase in flour price is unusually high due to rising dollar prices," he said.

Whereas to increase the price of products, as an effort to offset the increase in raw materials, he admitted it was difficult, because the purchasing power of the people was falling.

The same thing happened to some bakers and other businesses, who claimed difficulties in surviving due to rising wheat flour prices.

A big flour distributor in South Kalimantan Aftahuddin admitted that the increase in flour prices had an impact on South Kalimantan's MSMEs.

"Currently MSMEs can still survive is quite good, because of the fairly high increase in flour prices in the last four months," he said.

He said the cause, in addition to the rising dollar exchange rate, also due to information on wheat harvest failures in some importing countries.

Aftahuddin hopes that the government can immediately take steps to overcome the problem so that MSMEs can still survive.

"At a minimum, the government can maintain the price of other basic necessities, such as sugar. If everything goes up, flour rises, sugar rises, cooking oil rises, gas rises, it will certainly burden the society and industry," he said.
