Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) received scholarships from PT Adaro Indonesia to guarantee the tuition fees of 108 new students in the 2018-2019 academic year.
"Alhamdulillah, PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Adaro Energy Tbk were so concerned about pouring scholarships large enough and to help build student dormitories," said ULM Rector Prof. Dr. H Sutarto Hadi, Friday.
The scholarship agreement was marked by the meeting of the ULM rector accompanied by the Vice Rector IV for Cooperation and Public Relations, Dr. Ir.H. Yudi Firmanul Ariffin with Adaro Foundation Director Okty Damayanti and staff in the Rectorate Building Banjarmasin
Sutarto said that the scholarship called Adaro Bright Future Leader (ABFL) is like a fresh breeze for ULM, especially for students who are lucky to get it.
"Moreover not only scholarships guarantee tuition fees for 4 years. Adaro also provides a monthly allowance for living expenses and building a student dormitory. Of course, this is a complete package," he said.
From the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, Adaro build two dormitories with a total capacity of 200 people in the ULM campus in Banjarmasin and renovated the rusunawa (low-cost rental apartments) in the ULM campus in Banjarbaru.
Later all students who get scholarships will stay in the dormitory while being given debriefing on character education whose program implementation is also guaranteed by Adaro.
According to Sutarto, what ULM and Adaro have done is a good breakthrough. The kind of cooperation program he expected. Because assistance in the form of scholarships and the like is very meaningful in the process of coaching the young generation so that in the future continue the struggle to build the nation, especially in the South Kalimantan.
"ULM cannot work alone, there must be synergy with various parties. For that, we continue to encourage companies operating in South Kalimantan to pay attention to universities. And Adaro has set an example," said the Professor of Mathematics.
