Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Kalimantan government once again held a floating market culture festival as an effort to promote tourism and culture originated from local wisdom.


Head of the South Kalimantan Tourism Agency Heriansyah here said on Thursday that the Floating Market Culture Festival is held during 24-26 August on the riverbank at the front of the ex-office of the governor presenting Kampung Banjar.

While traditional merchants sell goods on traditional boats made of wood called jukung and jukung fitted with motor called kelotok to showcase the typical activities of river culture of Banjar people.

Head of Tourism Marketing and Promotion of Tourism Agency H Faisal added, the festival themed "From the South Kalimantan Floating Market for Indonesian Tourism Destinations."

The theme has the meaning that South Kalimantan has a variety of tourist charms that deserve to be a calendar of national tourism festivals, especially the wisdom of local people in maintaining a maritime culture, especially life above river waters, he said.

The festival was held, after the provincial government succeeded in carrying out other major activities, such as the Kiram Park Festival and the 2nd Borneo Culture Festival.

A number of officials from the Ministry of Tourism and related parties will be present at the event.

"This event has the support of the community and relevant stakeholders because it is educational and has the character of entertaining the people," he said.
