Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Acting Regent Central Hulu Sungai (HST) HA Chairansyah officially kicked off the campaign of measles and rubella (MR) vaccination to children in the district from August to September.


The launching took place at elementary school SDN 1 Barabai Timur and attended by local consultative forum (Muspida), SOPD, PKK, as well as community and religious leaders, Wednesday (1/8).

Head of HST Health Agency drg H Kusudiarto said MR vaccination is given to children between the age of nine months to less than 15 years. It will enter into routine immunization to schedule gradually, given to 9 month child, 18 months, and first graders of elementary school.

Nationally, the second phase of the MR campaign targeted 31,963,154 children in 28 provinces, 395 districts and cities, 4,884 sub-districts, 6,369 community health centers (puskesmas and 52,482 villages outside Java.

As for the District of HST, with a population of 269,384 inhabitants, the number of MR campaign targets as many as 70,579 children with HST health personnel spread over 955 postal services.

Although there is no MR disease in the HST, the goal is to break the link between measles and rubella with immunization coverage of at least 95 percent at all levels.
 
H A Chairansyah said this declaration is a concrete step to continue to provide the best in improving health services for the entire community.

"We are all obliged to give children the right to be immunized from infancy to childhood and adulthood and they also need additional immunizations to close the antibody gaps in society," he said.
