Batulicin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The price of chicken broiler in traditional market and daily market in Batulicin, Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, reached Rp60.000 per head in the last one month.

"In the last one month, the price of chicken in the traditional markets of Simpang Empat and Batulicin has increased by Rp10,000 per head, from Rp50,000 to Rp60,000," said Farah, a housewife in Sari Gadung Village on Tuesday.

A number of traders who used to stock chicken claimed now do not dare to do that, because the cost of purchasing seeds, treatments, food costs and medicines are quite high.

The big traders prefer to bring ready-made chickens from neighboring areas, such as Tanah Laut, so that the selling price is adjusted with the purchase cost and operational cost.

"We hope that the local government immediately anticipate that chicken prices remain under control, at least people can buy chicken at affordable prices," they hope.

Section Head of Trade Supervision of Trade and Industry Agency Nur Rochmah said the increase of chicken price occurs not only in Tanah Bumbu, but also in other districts even outside the region.

"With regard to rising chicken meat prices, we will coordinate with wholesalers and other related companies to find the best solution, so that people can still afford to buy at affordable prices and traders can also get their profit," he said.

Nur Rochmah argues that with the rise of the dollar value in the last few weeks is suspected to be the trigger of soaring operational costs, feed, and drugs that farmers must expend, because there are imported components from abroad.
