Batulicin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Angsana River water overflowed causing Trans Kalimantan road in Angsana, Satui, Kuranji and Loban sub-districts in Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan, inundated by half a meter high.

Head of Disaster Prevention and Handling of the Tanah Bumbu Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Abdul Rahim in Batulicin on Thursday said heavy rains occurred Wednesday (20/6) at 03.00 am until lowland such as Trans Kalimantan road was hit by flood.

"The last report from the team on the field, the flood waters along the provincial axis road had reached half a meter, but it did not last long at least an hour will be receded, and the road can be used as usual," he said.

He explained that the road is lower position than the river around, so if heavy rains and the river unable to accommodate the flow of water then it overflows into the road.

"In order for the road users to feel secure, we assigned a task force team from BPBD assisted by the police to provide guidance and impose open and close system to keep the road users safe while passing," he remarked.

One driver from the direction of Banjarmasin to Tanah Bumbu, Sugeng said, he stopped in the middle of the trip to wait for the overflowing water on the trans Kalimantan road receded in order to pass.

"We went from Banjarmasin to Tanah Bumbu at 09.00 and along the way it was rain and had to stop in the middle of the road like other road users because Angsana road was flooded with water as high as a half meter," he said.
