Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Danish Ambassador to Indonesia Rasmus A Krestensen said he was impressed by the river city of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.

During a visit to Banjarmasin on Monday he said the city, also known as the city of a thousand rivers, is similar to the region where he was born in his home country.

In fact, he said, Banjarmasin has its own uniqueness, where many people live in riverbanks.

"I was impressed by the culture of the Banjarmasin riverside community," said Rasmus who took his time for cruising Martapura River, the largest river that divides the city.

However, Rasmus was concerned with the condition of the river that is polluted by household waste, waste, and waste from human waste.

"The river looks cloudy and a lot of garbage, hopefully it will be managed well," he said.

Rasmus, whose visit was initiated by Kakikota Banjarmasin Community, who held Festival Kolaborasi Nyawa Sungai Banjarmasin (Banjarmasin River Life Collaboration Festival), May 12-14, 2018, stated that Banjarmasin has been included in the list of Danish government for assistance in handling environmental hygiene issues.

Not only that, he added, the World Bank also plans to provide assistance to this city.

"The assistance will be given later in the form of technology and education to tackle waste, while for assistance from the World Bank is now in planning," he said.
