Kandangan, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Healthcare Professionals for Sharia (HELP-S) held a public seminar titled "LGBT Phenomenon and Comprehensive Solutions" to prevent Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender in the district. 

Chairman of the Strategic Studies Division HELP-S Center Muhammad Amin in Kandangan said the sexually transmitted diseases is relatively increasing every year both in Indonesia and in the world.

"The problem is now more and more germs that cause infectious diseases, such as gonorrhea (urinary pus) which is immune to antibiotic drugs," he said when delivering the material in the Pendopo (Regent audience hall), Sunday (11/3).

He explained, to prevent the germs that are resistant to antibiotics can be done by using antibiotics as directed by a doctor. But preventing transmission, including away from risky behaviors such as LGBT, the teachings of Islam have a comprehensive solution.

It offers two solutions, a health system that is capable and accessible to all citizens without discrimination, and an Islamic-based educational system to produce responsible citizens.

Chairman of the HSS Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Sofyan N Saragih explained the causes of LGBT include biological, psychosocial (parenting), environmental problems, and past trauma.

"To be able to change, an LGBT actor must have a strong motivation supported by his environment and no less important there must be a spiritual approach, among others, by practicing the religious teachings correctly to prevent LGBT," he said.

Meanwhile, representatives of MUI HSS Ustadz Muhammad Khairani said about the haram (forbidden) of LGBT behavior and sanctions for the perpetrators based on the books of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence).

Another HSS MUI representative, Abdul Wahid, emphasized the need for strong sanctions against LGBT actors so that no one would dare to commit this haram, then social life does not become corrupted.

The seminar was attended by about 100 people from various backgrounds, ranging from school students, collages students, teachers, lecturers, and scholars, as well as presenting various resource persons to provide explanations about LGBT.
