FRI Forms Task Force Help Agriculture Ministry

Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The board executive of the Indonesian Rector Forum (FRI) agreed to form a food task force to assist the Ministry of Agriculture. 

Vice Chairman of FRI Prof. Dr. H Sutarto Hadi said the forum has agreed with the Minister of Agriculture Dr. Ir. H Andi Amran Sulaiman to cooperate intensively.

Sutarto revealed that they have appointed the Rector of the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) Dr. Arif Satria as Chairman of the task force.

"As the Minister wishes, universities should play a role in making a breakthrough how this great country can become a world foodshed in 2045," said Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) on the sidelines of 2018 FRI Campus Conference and the 20th Annual Meeting at Hasanuddin University Makassar, Friday.

Moreover, added Sutarto, Minister Amran Sulaiman who was a speaker at the conference and annual meeting on Thursday (15/2) evening has said that advanced laboratory equipment to support research required by college already available.

"So, FRI becomes a unified container of researchers supporting the target of the Minister of Agriculture for Indonesia to become a world food barn," he said.

Meanwhile, IPB Rector Dr. Arif Satria admitted that he is ready to collaborate with universities under the FRI to support the government wants to make Indonesia a world food barn.

"With the note, we have the same goodwill and vision, so the university as a strategic partner of the government certainly expected to have a relevant study program to build acceleration for the progress of the nation in all fields," he concluded.
