Kandangan, South Kalimantan, 14/7 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Representatives of Nagara community leaders, South Hulu Sungai (HSS) district, South Kalimantan, led by Syamsuri Yusuf submitted proposals for the expansion of the sub-district.


Community leader and Chairman of the Association of Daha Nagara (IKADANA) Syamsuri Yusuf in Kandangan on Friday said the proposal to expand three sub-districts to five sub-districts is the aspiration of Nagara people, either in Nagara or outside the area.

According to him, the proposal came from many circles and through several studies, including the potential of the region and the number of people sufficient to establish two new sub-districts, after South Daha, West Daha and North Daha.

"Nagara covers 740.55 km2 or 41.03 percent of the HSS District with a population of 82,155 people or 36.15 percent of the HSS population," he said.

He said the subdistrict expansion aims to develop the potential of the region, including the ease of government administration services, infrastructure development mainly access to transportation, economic and welfare of the community and equitable development.

According to him, this proposal has nothing to do with the election of regional head (pilkada) 2018 in HSS, but purely fight for the aspirations of the Nagara community initiated since 1964.

Chairman of Commission I of the HSS legislative council (DPRD) Rahmad Iriyadi said ready to follow up the proposal, in the form of formulation of local regulations or legislation from the legislature.

When receiving visit of Nagara representatives leaders, he explained that DPRD in the near future will conduct consultations to the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as learn the provisions of applicable legislation.
