Pelaihari, South Kalimantan 14/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The District Secretary Syahrian Nurdin said at this time Tanah Laut District already has an area of 70 hectares of urban forest.


"The 70-hectare urban forest is located at three points in the Pelaihari town at Taman Anggrek (Orchid Garden), at teak forest behind the regent office and in Mount Kayangan," Syahrian Nurdin said here on Wednesday.

According to him, urban forest in Taman Anggrek Pelaihari used as a Pelaihari typical orchid cultivation which is already known internationally for several times have won in the world orchid contest events.

While the urban forest behind the Office of Tanah Laut Regent is planted with teak trees which currently have grown.

The urban forest in the area of Mount Kayangan, he said, will be planted with various types of trees because of its location is more extensive than teak forests and Taman Anggrek Pelaihari.

With the urban forest, he explained, is very beneficial for Pelaihari residents in particular and Tanah Laut in general, especially to reduce air pollution.

In fact, he said, not only the benefits. In the assessment of Adipura, the urban forest must be owned by the district or city because it has a very important value to be able to achieve the award in the field of environment and hygiene from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Previously, the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar during a visit to Tanah Laut admitted very interested in the natural beauty of Earth of Tuntung Pandang (the district nickname).

"The condition of this pretty good nature can be developed as nature tourism and we are very supportive," she said.
