A grandmother killed by a dump truck

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 5/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - A grandmother was killed on the spot after crushed by a dump truck while passing through the intersection of Tengkarau Barabai, Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District, South Kalimantan.

"Traffic police have been doing initial investigation where the accident occurred," said Chief police Adjunct Senior Commissioner (AKBP) Mugi Sekar Jaya through Head of Traffic Accident Unit Aiptu C Sembiring in Barabai on Monday.

While the dump truck driver who allegedly crushed the victim on Monday (5/6) afternoon at around 12:00 was already secured by police.

From the results of investigation known the victim name Hj Burnawiah (63), retired civil servant, resident of Jalan KH Hasan Akhmad, Gang Tuhuran RT14 RW01, Barabai.

The dump truck driver had tried to escape, but thanks to the cooperation of the police and community, the perpetrator was successfully secured. He was secured in Birayang, Sub-district of South Batang Alai.

"The driver is being examined and the dump truck as evidence has been secured in HST police office," said the man who is familiar with the media crew.

According to eyewitness Hasim, a resident of Banua Jingah, when incident at the intersection the red light was allegedly not working.

The dump truck raced and escaped after the incident, though he would know that he was bumping into someone.

"I who happened to be behind the victim immediately chase the perpetrator who had run off and managed to record the plate number DA 1071 EF," he said.
