Amuntai, South Kalimantan, 26/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 30 villages in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, will be assisted with a Community-based water supply and sanitation (Pamsimas) program.


Head of HSU Board of Development Planning and Research (Bappelitbangda) Fajeri Ripani in Amuntai on Friday said since Pamsimas was established by the government in 2008 the district has always received the assistance of the program.

This year, he added, as many as 30 villages received assistance of Pamsimas program, so it is expected more and more people can enjoy water services and sanitation.

While the 60 villages that previously received the assistance program but not yet completed, will get help again in 2017.

Since 10 years of implementation of Pamsimas in North Hulu Sungai District, there have been 112 villages who received the assistance of this program.

The program given due to the condition of this district, which 89 percent of its area is a swamp, with unequal population distribution makes the need for clean water is vital.

"The total aid received from the Pamsimas program amounted to Rp16.5 billion, with the accompanying funding from the HSU budget of Rp6 billion and the community contribution of about Rp4.5 billions," said Fajeri.
