Kandangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Hulu Sungai Disaster Management, National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) prepares two main command post for forest and land fire (karhutla) to face the dry season.


Head of the agency Efran in Kandangan said on Tuesday that the post to be built at Kesbangpol office and in Negara, West Daha Sub-district, will open 24 hours.

"Preparation of two main posts is still waiting for the decree of HSS regent related to the handling of fire," he said.

Areas prone to forest and land fire (karhutla) in the district among others are Loksado and Negara with swamp land.

To anticipate the fire, the agency continues to socialize the ban of setting fire on land and forest to the citizens through counseling and dissemination of information about the potential of natural disasters.

Counseling and dissemination of potential natural disasters starts Tuesday to Wednesday (24/5) in each sub-district, followed by 50 representatives of each sub-district.

Participants invited include village heads, sub-district officials, district and sub-district military command (kodim and koramil), sector police, with the purpose of anticipating or preventing prior to the fire.

He acknowledged there was a complaint from residents to find a solution to the ban on burning forests and land to open agricultural land or plantation. This has been coordinated with related agencies.

According to information, the dry season is expected to occur in late May 2017.

Besides prone to land and forest fires, HSS is also prone to floods, including in Kandangan, Negara, Kelumpang, Angkinang, Danau Langsat and Pandulangan.

Potential landslide is found in Padang Batung sub-district, namely in Batu Laki Village, Malutu, Jelatang and along the left right side of Loksado subdistrict, the damaged line repair has also been proposed to the central government.
