Car overturned in HST, 14 injured

Barabai, South Kalimantan - A car carrying a group of pengajian (recitation) was overturned near the Babau bridge, Pinjau Pirua Village, North Labuan Amas Subdistrict, Central Hulu Sungai, and caused 14 passengers injured on Friday night.

According to Bonang, a volunteer from Urgent HST in Barabai on Saturday, Suzuki Carry Futura type car that overturned was along with two other cars on their way to follow the majelis ta'lim (Islamic learning forum) in the Pemangkih village.

"One of the cars suddenly overturned because one of it tires broke and caused dozens of passengers injured," explained Bonang.

The car with police number DA 9734 E carried dozens of children of 11 to 15 age who will attend the recitation.

As a result of the single accident, 14 passengers wounded from abrasions, bruises to broken in the legs and unconscious.

"One passenger suffered a broken leg, Muhammad Hafi (14), while the comatose victim in the ICU room were Muhammad Ahmadi (13) and M Baqeri (14)," Bonang said.

According to Ahmad, one resident at the scene, the car carrying the recitation group drove fast enough that it could not be controlled by the driver when one of it tires suddenly broke.
