Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 27/4 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City Police has installed as many as 33 CCTV to keep eye on inmates in its detention center (rutan).


"We install CCTVs in all directions both inside and outside detention center," said Police Chief Kombes (Senior Commissioner) Anjar Wicaksana Sik in Banjarmasin, Thursday.

He said that the 33 CCTVs are always watching all activities of the inmates. What they do are always recorded in the monitoring.

The integrated network of closed circuit television system is always active for 24 hours in a day and the detainees are asked not to do anything, especially intention to run away. If caught will be dealt with firmly.

In addition to relying on CCTV, picket officers always do raids in a day. One raid for every tour of duty guard.

Officers also always control the detainees once every hour and always check the iron bars by hitting while passing. This is done to get caught whether there are broken iron bars.

"The regional police chief suggested that every officer's control should be obliged to hit the iron bars when passing and when the bars are damaged must be different," said Banjarmasin police chief.

Anjar continued to say, the inspection of food carried by the visitors should also be done carefully not to let forbidden goods to enter the prison.

Every detainee is also required to wear a prisoner suit and is not allowed to wear personal clothing to distinguish between prisoners and visitors.

Officers should also approach the detainees. If there is sick directly given treatment. If they miss family, then officer obliged to lend phone to call their family.

"Our nature in fostering inmates, giving their rights by humanizing human beings even if they are problematic, so they feel they are treated properly," said the officer whose familiar with the media crew.

To note at this time Banjarmasin Police detention center filled with as many as 103 prisoners with a capacity of 80 people. Most of them are involved in drug cases.
