Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 15/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin Traffic Police secured 120 motorcycles allegedly belonging to wild racers on Jalan Ahmad Yani Km 3 to Km 6, East Banjarmasin.


Banjarmasin police chief Senior Commissioner (Kombes) Anjar Wicaksana here on Sunday said the raid specialized to prevent wild racing was carried out at predawn on Sunday around 01.30 am until it ended at 05.00 am.

Wild riders and spectators looked confused, because every space to escape was blocked by police.

Police blockading roads also seem overwhelmed to curb reckless acts committed by the young men.

It took three and half hours until police finally managed to secure 120 motorcycles allegedly belonging to young men members of the dangerous action.

"The motor bikes we have secured all taken to the parking lot of Banjarmasin Police, along with the riders," he said.

He explained 45 motorcycles ticketed, because the riders do not have rider licence (SIM). 50 motorcycles also ticketed, because the riders did not carry vehicle registration certificates (STNK). The other 30 are not ticketed yet as they leaved behind by their owners.

Considering wild riders are school students, he said, their parents, chief of neighborhood unit (RT), and school principals were then summoned to the police office.

"And for young men have to sign a note not to repeat the wild racing action and if it later caught again will be given harder sanction, "he said.
