Head of the Kotabaru-Batulicin Port Authority and Harbormaster Office (KSOP) Taufan Eka Putra said ship operators are ready to serve passengers during Eid 1445 Hijriah/2024 season by preparing six ships through Samudera Port.

"These roll on roll off (ro-ro) ships are four units prepared by PT Pelni, one unit by PT Dharma Lautan Utama (DLU) Batulicin branch, and one unit by the State," said Taufan here on Wednesday.

PT Pelni prepared KM Wilis, KM Egon, KM Sanus and KM Lawit, while PT DLU readies KM Dharma Fery III, the State with KM Bung Tomo.

These ships, he said, with a capacity of over 4,000 people will serve passengers for the destination of Batulicin-Surabaya and Batulicin Makassar, both for round trip.

The surge or peak of homebound (mudik) flow and return flow is predicted to be fve days before and five days after Eid with an estimated increase of 25 percent or 1,000 passengers.

In case, if there are pasasengers left behind or not served, KSOP together with operator prepares two additional ships, KM Leuser and KM Binaiya.

"The two additional ships have not yet been operated, because they only serve passengers before and after Eid. While other ships have been operating regularly," Taufan explained.

To support Eid transportation services, KSOP and related agencies have prepared an integrated post at Samudera Port, Batulicin.

"We are committed to providing the best services for passengers in coordination with TNI/Polri to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers through Eid command post," he said.
