Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Lion Air opened new routes from Syamsudin Noor Airport Banjarmasin to Adisumarmo Airport Solo, Central Java, on Friday.


The inaugural flight was marked with ceremonial at the airport VIP building attended by Mayor Banjarbaru Najdmi Adhani and Sjamsudin Noor Air Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Bambang Sudewo.

General Manager Syamsudin Noor Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan welcomed the new route opened by Lion Air to serve passengers at the airport.

"We as airport authorities welcomed the Lion Air new route that users can increasingly be served to reach the destination," he said.

Lion Air flights to Solo fly every day. This new route, he said, increases the number of flights either departing or arriving to 86 times per day.

He mentioned the largest percentage of flights at the Syamsudin Noor Airport which is located in Banjarbaru, about 25 kilometers from South Kalimantan capital, still held by Lion Air.

"The number of Lion Air flights either departing or coming is 46 times per day, or up to 65 percent of all flights at Syamsudin Noor Airport," he said.

According to him, the airport is ready to coordinate with other airlines to add a new route from Syamsudin Noor, because it still open slot flight schedule.

Mayor Banjarbaru Nadjmi Adhani welcomed the new route was opened by Lion Air. "We are excited because this new route would improve services for service users and we expected their better acquainted with Banjarbaru because the location of the airport is in Banjarbaru," he said.
