Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of Banjarmasin Water Resources and Drainage Agency H Ir Muryanta said the government still preserve the settlement on the riverside on the condition to have the local cultural wisdom nuances.
This, according to him while in Banjarmasin Council (DPRD) building on Tuesday, has been discussed in the draft regulation (raperda) meeting on river management improvement.
"The bottom line is in our river management in the future, local wisdom is concerned, for example, the riverside culture," he said.
He explained the river here is not the same as in other areas which generally utilized only for flood prevention. Banjarmasin make it complete, as raw water, tourism and culture.
"We want to revive the local wisdom, such as lanting (raft) home, floating market, even communities residential that have preserved the value of tourism as well," he explained.
According to him, the riverside settlements which already are hereditary and not close most of the rivers must be preserved as a tourist potential.
"Indeed, our region's unique cultural community with the activities in the river to be preserved as a tourist potential," he said.
According to Muryanta, the number of rivers in Banjarmasin is about 150, all of them directed to the Martapura River, where most of the residents are buildings in the suburbs.
