Barabai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent HST H Abdul Latif supports the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud) program to socialize the use of good and true Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia) in every activity.


According to the HST Head of Public Relations and Protocol M Ramadan, the district government has received a letter from the ministry, which called on all SKPD, local government owned enterprises (BUMD), companies and the general public to use a good and true Indonesian language in correspondence, banners, billboards, advertising and naming clues on the public road.

"This appeal we convey to follow-up a circular from Kemendikbud, especially in the scope of the administration first then society in general to become familiar with the Bahasa Indonesia, the more it can be applied and used in everyday life," he said.

The Ministry invites all governors and regents or mayors throughout Indonesia to prioritize the use of Bahasa Indonesia considering the use of Indonesian today are quite worrying.

The appeal was delivered by the Head of the Language of the ministry through a letter No.5947/G/BS/2016 on Indonesian Dignity. A similar appeal was delivered to the directors of major state companies and enterprises, including Angkasa Pura, Garuda Indonesia, Pertamina, and PT Kereta Api Indonesia.

Head of the Language Development of Kemdikbud Dadang Sunendar said the Indonesian language as the national language and the official language of the state is mandated by the Youth Pledge 1928 and the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia 1945.

In addition, Act No. 24 of 2009 on the Flag, Language, and the State Emblem and Anthem. However, Bahasa Indonesia is currently less dignified in it own country.

"It can be seen in the use of Indonesian on the billboards of the name of the building or construction, signs, fabric range, and ads in public spaces were barely altered by the use of a foreign language," said Dadang in extensive details written, submitted to the District government of HST, Thursday (18/08).

According to him, a similar condition also occurs in the use of language in public administration as reflected in official letters and reports.
