Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A joint team of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Police arrested a driver along with dump truck transporting timber without documents allegedly from the practice of illegal logging in the local area.


"The wood type transported in the truck was ironwood and after being examined by a joint team did not have documents," said HSS Police Chief AKBP Sukendar Eka Restiyan Putra through the Head of Public Relations AKP Agus Winartono in Kandangan, Sunday.

The arrest of the perpetrator was carried out by a joint team of the HSS Criminal Investigation Police (Satreskrim), Loksado police, and Padang Batung police.

The arrest of the driver, alleged perpetrator of illegal logging, was conducted on Friday (12/8) afternoon around 14:00 pm in the Halunuk Village, Loksado Sub-district.

The driver and owner of the illegal ironwood known as SB (54), private sector worker, the villager of Malinau, Loksado. The dump truck with police number DA 1379 ZB loaded with ironwood amounted to about 8.5 cubic.

From the interrogation in the field, the ironwood were purchased by the perpetrator from Batulicin , Tanah Bumbu, and was scheduled to be sold to Nagara.

"For the sake of inquiry and investigation, the perpetrator and the evidence secured were taken to the local police station for further legal proceedings," he said.
